To our south,
explore Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area. There, you’ll find the largest coastal sand dunes in North America, rising as high as 500 feet above the ocean. Hire a professional driver to take you out on a high-speed tour. Or, rent ATVs and sandboards to explore on your own. Along your way you’ll find large and beautiful lakes for fishing or boating.
To the north,
you’ll find numerous beach access points, awesome vistas, and beautiful landscapes to explore. Drive 20 distractingly scenic miles north (stop often and take it all in) to visit the spectacular Cape Perpetua. Along the way, stop and enjoy the colorful tide pools. As you go, be sure to visit the ancient costal forests with towering twenty-mile views.
In & around town
visit quaint shops, surprising galleries, and enjoy the great food and drink in Historic Old Town. A few blocks away, you’ll find our burgeoning antique district. When you’re done shopping, stop by the historic museum and military heritage museum to learn about Florence’s past. And it’s just a short drive to some amazing golf.

Sea Lion Caves
Ten minutes north of Florence are the Sea Lion Caves, a year-round home to hundreds of barking, frolicking Steller sea lions and harbor seals. Ride the elevator six stories down through solid rock to this amazing natural wonder, considered the world’s largest natural sea cave. It’s a fun and educational stop for the whole family, surrounded by inspiring views of the ocean and coastline.

The Oregon Coast Military Museum is packed full of life-sized dioramas, artifacts, mementos, and experiences. It does an excellent job honoring the many Florence-area resident Veterans and admission is a reasonable $5.
