The recently announced ‘TripAdvisor 2015 Travelers’ Choice Survey’ put The Old Town Inn, in Florence, Oregon, at #11 for “Best Bargain Hotels in the United States.”
A recent check of TripAdvisor, the world’s largest travel website, also shows The Old Town Inn as the top-rated of all Florence-area lodgings and in the top 20 of 222 lodgings on the Oregon Coast. Reviews regularly include words like “clean,” “immaculate,” “friendly,” “great bargain for the price,” “surprising find,” and “helpful staff.” Photos on TripAdvisor show spotless rooms and quality finishes rare in a bargain property. A recent guest review on TripAdvisor stated, “We were particularly impressed with how the owners have been able to transform an older motel into a high-end stay.”

Management will not release a room for use until it has been thoroughly inspected, even to the extent of staff getting down on their hands and knees with a flashlight to check under beds and chairs, and behind dressers and armoires. Staff also serve like big-time hotel concierges, helping guests find everything down to what each local restaurant has on special each evening. They print maps, menus, and tide charts; make restaurant reservations; coordinate dune buggy, horseback, or airplane rides; and organize golf foursomes.

In summer 2013, the Hoaglands, owners of The Old Town Inn and The River House Inn in Florence, invested nearly $750,000 in makeovers for the two properties. The Old Town Inn received new beds, bedding, televisions, lounge chairs, and wall art, as well as professionally refurbished armoires, tables, and desks. The River House Inn received all new furnishings such as beds, bedding, armoires, granite countertops, desks, lounge chairs, and televisions. Guest rooms at both properties feature microwaves, refrigerators, free Wi-Fi, cable TV, coffee makers, hair dryers, and a “white noise” machine for light sleepers. Breakfast items are available, but vary between the two. Both properties consistently rank among the Oregon Coast’s top 20 properties, and top three in Florence.
